Sun tan is a common skin problem caused by prolonged exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. While a tan usually fades over time, several natural remedies may help brighten the skin and reduce tanning.
Aloe vera is known for its soothing and skin-repairing properties. Apply fresh aloe vera gel to the affected area before bedtime and wash it off in the morning. Regular use may help reduce tanning and improve skin tone.
Yogurt contains lactic acid, which can gently exfoliate the skin, while honey helps keep it moisturized. Mix one tablespoon of yogurt with a teaspoon of honey, apply it to the tanned area for 20 minutes, and then rinse with water.
Cucumber has a cooling effect and may help soothe sun-exposed skin. Apply fresh cucumber juice to the tanned area and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before washing it off.
Potato contains natural enzymes that may help reduce skin pigmentation. Extract fresh potato juice, apply it to the affected skin, and leave it for about 15 minutes before rinsing.
A paste made from gram flour (besan) and rose water can help remove dead skin cells and improve skin appearance. Apply the paste, let it dry, and wash it off gently with water.
For best results, use sunscreen daily, stay hydrated and avoid excessive sun exposure, as preventing further tanning is just as important as treating existing tan.
