Carrie-Anne Moss says Marvel did not ask her to return for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 3
Moss played attorney Jeri Hogarth in ‘Jessica Jones’, appearing across the series’ three seasons between 2015 and 2019
Carrie-Anne Moss has revealed that Marvel Studios did not ask her to reprise her role as Jeri Hogarth in the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again, despite several stars from Marvel’s former Netflix series returning for the Disney+ show.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Moss confirmed that she would not appear in the upcoming season, which is scheduled to arrive in 2027. Asked whether Marvel had contacted her about returning, the actress gave a brief response: “No.”
Moss played attorney Jeri Hogarth in Jessica Jones, appearing across the series’ three seasons between 2015 and 2019. She later reprised the character in Daredevil season two and Iron Fist, before joining the superhero crossover miniseries The Defenders in 2017.
Her character was among the notable figures from Marvel’s Netflix era who did not return for Daredevil: Born Again. The Disney+ series has gradually reunited several familiar faces, with Charlie Cox returning as Matt Murdock, while Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones are also reprising their respective roles as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
Although Moss will not be part of the reunion, she is working towards another collaboration with Ritter, her close friend and former co-star. The pair are developing Claire, a creature horror-thriller in which Ritter plays a single mother battling addiction when a malevolent entity that feeds on despair begins terrorising her and her two sons.
“Krysten Ritter and I are like besties,” Moss told Entertainment Weekly. “So we’re always trying to think of things to do together.”
The actress added that the two regularly discuss potential projects, saying they have “a million ideas” and describing Ritter as “such a dear friend of mine”.
Moss’s latest comments come as Daredevil: Born Again prepares to conclude with its third season. The announcement that the series would end in 2027 disappointed fans, particularly those hoping to see more of the interconnected characters introduced through Marvel’s earlier Netflix shows.
At a New York Comic Con panel, Cox acknowledged the possibility of renewed fan campaigning to save the series. The actor joked about the “Save Daredevil” campaign and the response it could generate following the cancellation announcement.
While Moss will not be returning to the Marvel series, she remains active in television and film. She stars in Yaga, a detective thriller inspired by the Slavic folklore figure Baba Yaga, playing university professor Katherine Hargrove in the mystery set in the fictional coastal town of Whittock.
With Daredevil: Born Again approaching its final season, Moss’s absence means Jeri Hogarth will not be part of the show’s concluding chapter, even as other characters from the Netflix-era Marvel universe return to the screen.
