WASHINGTON: The White House confirmed Friday that President Donald Trump will attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where Argentina will face Spain.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the president’s plans during a press briefing, saying Trump is looking forward to attending the championship match.
Leavitt said the president is excited to witness the World Cup final in person, describing the tournament as one of the most successful sporting events ever hosted in the United States.
She added that Trump’s attendance will coincide with the conclusion of what the administration considers the most-watched, safest and most successful FIFA World Cup in U.S. history.
Earlier, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on June 23 that President Trump is expected to present the World Cup trophy to the winning team following the final on July 19.
