Miley Cyrus reveals worst fear in marrying Maxx Morando: ‘the ick’

Miley Cyrus is worried she’ll “get the ick” after marrying Maxx Morando.

The 33-year-old pop star got engaged to the Liily drummer in 2025 after six years together, but there’s one concern she has about their relationship once they do tie the knot.

She told Zane Lowe on Apple Music, “We’ve been together six years, and I’ve never gotten the ick. All of a sudden I got in my head, I was like, ‘Oh my God, we’re about to get married. What if I get the ick?’

“I asked him, ‘What happens if you get the ick once you’re married?’” Miley revealed, before adding, “He’s like, ‘You deal with it and you move on and you don’t be a baby. The ick is for when you’re in fifth grade.'”

It wasn’t long after that conversation that Maxx did something that really irked the Wrecking Ball hitmaker.

She laughed, recalling the incident and told Zane, “He (did) something that icked me for a minute. I was like, ‘Don’t ever do that again. It gave me the ick.'”

It’s not just one way though, as Miley admitted she’s got her own frustrating behaviours with the Flowers singer noting if she’s not in charge, she can get “really stinky about it.”

Revealing what gets under Maxx’s skin, Miley added, “He said, ‘When you’re a brat’, which is so true. I’m so icky when I’m a brat.”

However, the traits they love about each other are much more important.

“What I also love is I’m not totally the boss in our house. It’s like a sense of relief that I can actually soften into, because he’s going to watch this and be like, ‘You’re not the boss. We’re both the boss,'” Miley said.

Additionally, the Grammy-winning singer also talked about a lesson that “generations prior” didn’t always pass on. “Marriage doesn’t need to be a prison. It can actually be a playground,” she said.

Miley, who was married to Liam Hemsworth between 2018 and 2020 before meeting Maxx on a blind date set up by friends, previously described love as “dynamic and complex.”

Opening up about her new album Bass Persuades, she told Wonderland Magazine, “This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. They’re always layered.”

“There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it’s a reflection of where I am in my life. But this one feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras,” she explained.

“That’s something I hadn’t really experienced before. A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records. Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I’ve found for myself. That’s probably been the biggest evolution,” Miley Cyrus said of experiencing new found love with herself as well as her fiancé, Maxx Morando.
