In 2005, Hollywood hit audiences with War of the Worlds. Starring Tom Cruise, the movie deals with an alien invasion.
Fast-forward to now; interest in extraterrestrial life skyrockets after UFO files have been released.
Amid this, Neil deGrasse Tyson, the space guru, dropped a bombshell.
In his view, the film industry has been conditioning the public mind for ultimate revelation: “Aliens are real.”
He points to a series of movies, particularly the War of the Worlds, focusing on aliens.
So, in this way, the scientist says the humans will not get a stunning shock.
Talking to the Daily Mail, Tyson shares, “Of course, we’re ready, because movies have been prepping us ever since War of the Worlds.”
Not to mention, in pop culture, the lore about UFOs and aliens has dedicated followers.
Regarding this, Tyson, in a tongue-in-cheek manner, adds, “We’ve already been told the government has them in the back shed; they just haven’t brought them out yet.”
“So, society didn’t collapse in the face of that knowledge,” he jokes.
‘We are not alone’
Tyson, elsewhere in the interview, shares that humans are not alone in this universe.
“Anyone who’s studied the problem would answer without hesitation that we are not alone.”
“We’re made of the most common ingredients in the universe.”
“So life, if anything, was opportunistic, working with the materials that it was given in the early Earth.”
“So, anyone who’s studied the problem is ready for the universe to be teeming with life,” Tyson concludes.
