Dylan Meyer opens up about falling in love with Kristen Stewart
Dylan Meyer, the wife of actress Kristen Stewart, is spilling the beans on what she remembers about her first impression of Stewart.
Meyer, who wrote and directed the new film The Wrong Girls, shared in a recent interview that her first impression of Stewart was quite different from how the public sees the Twilight star.
She and Stewart, 36, first met while working on another project together as they were filming American Ultra in 2013, and got along well.
“I met her on another movie, and we just really liked each other,” Meyer told People, adding with a smile, “ended up being a whole thing, as you can see.”
“At the time we just thought each other were really rad,” she added. After “six or seven years went by we were falling in love.”
Meyer joked that she found it surprising Stewart had once been seen as a major teen idol, saying she initially saw her as more of a laid-back, relaxed personality similar to herself.
“I was like, ‘I can’t believe anyone ever let this person be a teen idol. She’s such a deadbeat like me.’ Like, ‘That’s so crazy. She’s been miscast.’”
Meyer shared that after reconnecting, the two quickly bonded over their shared passion for creative projects.
Meyer had actually written an early version of The Wrong Girls years before, but the script became relevant again once she and Stewart started sharing their creative work with each other.
Stewart was passionate about starring in the film and encouraged Meyer to direct it herself, even though Meyer was initially hesitant, feeling it might be too big a project for her directorial debut.
After filming wrapped, the couple got married in Los Angeles in April 2025, following an engagement that began years earlier.
Meyer shared that the timing of their wedding was especially hectic, as it took place in between production on the film and attending a major film festival for another project of Stewart’s.
The Wrong Girls also stars several other well-known actors and is now playing in theaters.
