SEOUL: BTS member V has revealed that he has been dealing with hearing problems for more than two years and he is now receiving medical care. The 30 year old singer discussed the issue publicly for the first time during a livestream with fellow BTS member Jungkook on the fan platform Weverse on Wednesday.
V told fans that he had kept the problem private until now. He said his hearing has gradually become worse and that one ear is much weaker than the other. The singer explained that if his hearing in one ear is at 100%, he can hear only about 30% with the other ear.
V also said the problem became worse during his mandatory military service. At the time, he did not take the issue as seriously as he should have. He said people around him believed the problem was connected to mental strength because many of them were focused on physical training.
V said he eventually convinced himself that he could overcome the issue through mental strength. Jungkook disagreed with that approach and encouraged V to take proper care of his health. “You shouldn’t do that,” Jungkook told him during the livestream.
The conversation then turned to V’s current treatment. He said he is now taking medication and regularly visiting a hospital for medical care. “I’m going to the hospital regularly,” V said.
V’s comments quickly drew attention from fans, many of whom expressed concern and support for the singer after he shared the personal health update. The discussion also highlighted the importance of seeking professional medical care when a health problem continues or becomes worse.
V did not provide further details about the cause of his hearing difficulties or identify a specific medical diagnosis during the livestream. His disclosure comes as BTS members continue their individual activities following their military service. V and Jungkook have also remained active in connecting with fans through Weverse and other platforms.
