Liam Payne’s final hours at a Buenos Aires hotel have been detailed in sworn statements given to police by two women who said they were hired by the singer before his death.
According to Daily Mail, escorts Aldana Serrano and Lucila Goitea provided testimony to investigators about Payne’s behaviour at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel on October 16, 2024, the day he died aged 31.
According to the statements, the women said Payne became distressed after being unable to pay their agreed $5,000 fee. They claimed he offered them his £30,000 gold Rolex, later smashed the watch and said he could “have ten of those”.
One of the women told investigators, “We told him we only wanted money so he took [the watch] and smashed it. He told us he didn’t care about the money.
“And then he broke the TV, he punched it. He made us understand that he could smash everything because he knew he could pay for it.”
The women said Payne also asked for cocaine, performed his own songs and pleaded with them to remain, saying that money did not make him happy.
They left the hotel and later returned to collect belongings, when Payne reportedly apologised.
Payne died at about 5.07pm after falling from the hotel’s third-floor balcony. Toxicology tests found cocaine, alcohol and Klonopin in his system.
Hotel worker Ezequiel Pereyra and waiter Braian Paiz face charges of supplying drugs and deny the allegations.
A full inquest in the UK remains pending, with a further pre-inquest review scheduled for December 1.
