JAMAICA: West Indies have announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, scheduled from June 3 to 8 at Sabina Park, as the team enters a crucial phase in its qualification journey for the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.
Led by captain Shai Hope, the “Men in Maroon” will aim to continue their strong home record and extend their unbeaten ODI home series streak to five consecutive series victories, with their last home success coming against Pakistan in August last year.
The squad receives a major boost with the return of fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who is back after recovering from a back injury that sidelined him since July 2025.
Spin-bowling options are also strengthened with the return of Gudakesh Motie, who missed the New Zealand tour earlier this year.
In a key development, Shimron Hetmyer has been recalled to the ODI setup following impressive performances in the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. As part of West Indies’ long-term planning for the 50-over World Cup next year, he is expected to join the squad ahead of the third and final ODI.
