The UK is bracing for another wave of heatwave this September as temperatures are set to spike, reaching summer-like in some places.
As per the latest weather forecast based on computer models, On Saturday, the outbreaks of rain moving southwards then continuing into the afternoon across northern England, Wales and the Midlands are expected.
Southern England stays largely dry, warm, and humid with sunny intervals and temperatures reaching the mid-20s Celsius.
Sunday will also witness temperatures dropping slightly in the north but reaching 23-25C in parts of Wales, the Midlands and southern England. However, some areas of England and Wales could even experience highs of up to 26C on Monday.
The warm spell will not touch the heatwave criteria, which requires three consecutive days exceeding the regional threshold ranging from 25–28C.
“It will feel warm and muggy – especially where there are sunny spells – although heavy rain also features in the forecast,” BBC Weather shares.
“The warmth will persist into Monday in many areas, but nowhere is expected to reach heatwave criteria and cooler conditions are due to return by midweek.”
According to the forecast, unsettled weather will prevail in the next week driven by the jet stream bringing low pressure, rain and blustery winds.
BBC Weather adds, “While long-range forecasting is fraught with uncertainty and details are subject to change, there is currently nothing to indicate that a heatwave is on the cards.”
Later in September, there would be longer dry interludes and above-average daytime temperatures due to high pressure.
“Indeed, as autumn advances and the nights become longer, high pressure overhead could lead to some rather chilly mornings.”
