Trump says he has ‘cancelled’ strikes against Iran

US President Donald Trump has announced the postponement of the anticipated military action against Iran, saying that the attacks and bombing operations scheduled for today have been cancelled following high-level contacts and diplomatic progress.

In a statement, Trump said that discussions with Iran’s senior leadership had opened the way for de-escalation, leading to the decision to halt the planned strikes for the time being. However, he made it clear that the US blockade would remain in place until the proposed agreement is fully implemented.

According to the US president, all relevant parties have given their preliminary approval to the final terms of the agreement. He claimed that the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, among several other countries, have supported the proposed framework.

Trump further stated that Qatar, Türkiye, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt had also agreed to the terms of the deal, raising hopes of reducing the risk of a wider conflict in the region.

The announcement has sparked fresh debate in diplomatic circles around the world, especially as reports of a possible renewed military operation against Iran had been circulating only hours earlier. The latest development is being viewed as a significant turning point in the Middle East situation, although the details of the agreement and official positions of the countries involved are still awaited.
