Trump hails major progress in peace agreement with Iran

US President Donald Trump officially announced that a landmark peace agreement has been “largely negotiated” with Iran and that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened, aiming to bring an end to the months-long war that began earlier this year.

On Saturday, Trump held a call with regional leaders to review Iran’s latest proposal, and they encouraged him to accept the framework agreement.

According to a statement from US Central Command, more than 100 commercial ships have been redirected from the Strait of Hormuz forces as part of a naval blockade on Iranian ports.

As reported by the Reuters, the proposed framework would unfold in three stages: Initially ending the war, resolving the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and launching a 30-day window for negotiations on a broader agreement.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that he had a phone call with prominent leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan.

The leading matters under consideration include the future of Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium as well as navigating through the Strait of Hormuz-the vital waterway where the flow of oil shipments was effectively shut off.
