A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder following a mass shooting near Florida A&M University (FAMU) that left 12 people injured.

According to The Guardian, Tallahassee police identified the suspect as Anthony Rivers III, who was arrested on Sunday following the shooting during homecoming celebrations on Saturday evening.

Six adults and six minors were injured in the incident, with 11 suffering gunshot wounds. Another person injured their ankle while fleeing the scene.

Police said three victims were seriously injured, including one who remained in critical condition in hospital.

The shooting occurred shortly before 8:00 PM near the university’s Bragg Stadium, where a homecoming football game had recently ended.

Investigators believe the gunfire followed an argument between two groups who knew each other.

Police said none of those injured appeared to have been deliberately targeted.

Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said the investigation remained ongoing and further arrests were possible.

“What should have been a weekend of celebration in our community instead became a night of fear and violence for the victims and their families,” Revell said.

FAMU President Marva Johnson condemned the “senseless and despicable” violence and pledged cooperation with investigators.
