Taylor Swift’s mentor Kenny Chesney reflects on early signs of stardom

Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney share a beautiful bond as the country star was one of the first few people to recognise the stardom that lay ahead of her.
The 57-year-old legendary singer looked back at meeting Swift as a young aspiring singer back in 2007, when he approached her to join his tour as the opening act.
In his upcoming book, Heart Life Music, Chesney discusses the Love Story hitmaker’s eagerness for her career.
“With Taylor, I mean, she had the eye of the tiger even as a teenager. And I recognized that early on. You can’t look into a crystal ball to predict and see what happened to her, but I could tell that she was really talented and really wanted it,” he told People Magazine.
The American Kids singer continued, “And even at a young age, she was a really good songwriter. So I knew something special was going to happen there.”
This is not the first time Chesney has applauded Swift for her successful music career and the dedication behind it. Swift and the country star have both spoken fondly about each other over the years.
Recalling how the Summertime singer sent her a cheque after she couldn’t come on tour as a minor because of legal issues, Swift recalled the kind act in her Time interview in 2023.
“I was able to pay my band bonuses. I was able to pay for my tour buses. I was able to fuel my dreams,” the Life of a Showgirl songstress said.
