Chaudhry added that the Awami National Party (ANP), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), National Party and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) would also be allocated one seat each in the Electoral Reforms Committee.

The minister also noted that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar would make the final decision on the committee members after consultations with the opposition, ruling coalition parties, and relevant parliamentary leadership.

On October 29, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari urged Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai to use the “authority” granted by PTI Imran Khan to ensure that opposition lawmakers resume participation in key parliamentary committees, particularly for electoral reforms.

Bilawal stated that if Parliament had decided to form an Electoral Reforms Committee, Achakzai should exercise his authority as leader of the opposition to nominate members and submit their names to the speaker’s office.

A delegation from the PPP met with Achakzai in the National Assembly to invite the opposition leader to join the parliamentary committee on electoral reforms.

On August 20, Bilawal had urged the opposition to rejoin parliamentary standing committees, while also seeking opposition coordination over the appointment of the chief election commissioner and members of the Election Commission of Pakistan, as well as electoral reforms.
