‘Shrinking’ star Ted McGinley reveals his secret wish Harrison Ford fulfilled

Ted McGinley, who spent years to establish his career in the entertainment world, opened up about working with legends like Harrison Ford in Shrinking.

For those unaware, Shrinking, a comedy-drama television series, has an ensemble cast, including Ford, Jason Segel, Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell, Brett Goldstein, and others.

McGinley recently chatted with PEOPLE magazine, where he reflected on sharing screen with amazing actors.

Articulating his thoughts, the 67-year-old American actor said, “I spent my entire career wondering what it would be like to work opposite a man like Harrison Ford, Jason Segel.”

He went on to admit that he used to think that such opportunities do not come your way easily, quipping, “I’m never going to get that chance to have a scene.”

McGinley, who played the role of Derek in the series, also talked about the kind of recognition he is receiving.

The Happy Days star confessed that getting noticed due to his performance among big names is something he “never thought would happen — ever.”

Notably, Shrinking follows Jimmy Laird (played by Segel), “a therapist grieving his wife’s death who begins breaking ethical boundaries by telling his patients exactly what he thinks. He is then mentored by a gruff Paul Rhodes (played by Ford) and supported by colleague Gaby (played by Williams), Jimmy navigates dysfunctional, honest therapy, erratic parenting, and his own emotional recovery.”

It is pertinent to mention that Shrinking, which debuted on January 27, 2023, concluded airing its third season on Apple TV+ on April 8, 2026.
