KARACHI: Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has sparked widespread debate on social media after a viral video appeared to show him pushing away a young fan while making his way through a crowd under security escort.
In the circulating footage, Afridi can be seen walking through a crowd while being escorted by security personnel. As a young fan approaches him, the former cricketer appears to push the fan back with his hand before continuing on his way.
The video quickly gained traction across social media platforms, triggering mixed reactions from users. Many criticized Afridi’s conduct, saying he should have treated the fan more politely, while some called on the former captain to issue an apology over the incident.
Several users also posted critical comments in response to the viral clip, questioning Afridi’s behavior during the encounter.

However, others urged caution, arguing that the short video does not show the complete sequence of events. They said it would be premature to draw conclusions without the full context of what occurred before and after the recorded footage.
Shahid Afridi, one of Pakistan’s most prominent former cricketers and a former national captain, has remained in the public spotlight since retiring from international cricket through his charitable work, media appearances and public commentary.
As of now, Afridi has not issued any official statement addressing the viral video or the criticism surrounding the incident.
