Senator Vawda stresses accountability as key to country’s progress

KARACHI: Senator Faisal Vawda said he was waiting to see when alleged drug dealer Pinky (Anmol alias Pinky) would be awarded a medal, remarking that she now appeared to have become eligible for official recognition.

He alleged that those responsible for enabling such elements have remained in power since Pakistan’s inception under what he described as a flawed democratic system.

Vawda said the future of Pakistan’s children and coming generations had been jeopardized and stressed that meaningful accountability of those in authority was essential to end what he termed an ongoing political drama.

He added that the country could not progress through bureaucratic decision-making in place of democratic processes, false allegations, manufactured narratives, publicity campaigns, and forced political gatherings.

“This is only the beginning of the scandals,” Vawda said, adding that more revelations were yet to come.
