‘Saved by the Bell’ actor Dennis Haskins’ cause of death revealed after death at 75
The actor died on September 27 at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California
Dennis Haskins, best known for playing Principal Richard Belding on Saved by the Bell, died from Parkinson’s disease, according to his death certificate obtained by TMZ.
The actor died on September 27 at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, aged 75.
His death certificate also listed irritable bowel syndrome, depression, hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia as significant conditions.
Haskins’ death was previously confirmed by a longtime friend and caretaker and reported by WTVC, a news outlet in his hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
His agent, Jay Schachter, also remembered the actor in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
“It’s a tragic loss. Everyone loved Mr. Belding, and those of us who got to know Dennis loved him even more. He was a great person, and he loved, I mean absolutely LOVED, his fans,” Schachter said.
“He always had time for them, no matter what. He was my client and dear friend for over 20 years, and I will miss him terribly. I’m heartbroken.”
A Burbank karaoke bar, Dimples, later revealed that Haskins had privately battled Parkinson’s disease for eight years. The establishment said he had chosen not to discuss his health publicly.
“He had been silent about his fight with Parkinson’s, among other health concerns, because he did not want the attention. He did not want to have to tell people,” the venue wrote in an Instagram post.
Haskins’ ex-wife, Sarah Quinones, later confirmed his Parkinson’s diagnosis to TMZ.
His last public appearance was at a Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs game in December 2018.
