Last month, Savannah Guthrie and her colleagues at NBC’s show TODAY travelled to Ireland for a special show.

Her team includes familiar faces from the network. Melvin, Al Roker, Carson Daly, Dylan Dreyer, Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones.

Together, the TODAY team explored Ireland’s history, society, and cuisine. She also visited the well-known Cliffs of Moher, a stunning stretch of cliffs.

But beyond the work, Ireland holds a special place in Savannah’s life because of the country’s connection to her missing mom, Nancy Guthrie, who had Irish ancestry.

Savannah, following the return to the US, said, “I’ve never been to Ireland. My mother’s family – my mother was Irish. Her grandmother – they’re from Galway.”

She also raved about the exotic scenery of the country: “We saw it from the ocean and then from this Martin Guerin farm right there,” she said, adding, “It was absolutely stunning.:

“If you’ve been to Ireland and you haven’t done the Cliffs of Moher, then I don’t know if you’ve been to Ireland.”

Beyond Ireland’s stunning beauty, the TODAY anchor was in awe of the Irish people. “That’s what I think sets it apart — the people.”

Meanwhile, Savannah’s mom, Nancy, remains missing. Authorities continue searching for her.
