Role Model gets candid about ‘crisis moments’ post Dakota Johnson break up

Role Model has opened up about feeling “lost” while writing his latest album, Chuck Timely & the Hourglass.

The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, talked about the two-year long period during which he worked on his second studio album, which was released earlier this month.

Speaking to actress and writer Lena Dunham for Interview Magazine, the 29-year-old admitted that he struggled with being single while his friends began settling down.

“I worked on this one during a two-year span of being single,” he said, referring to the album. “It was a lot about feeling lost and constantly having these crisis moments of ‘Where do I belong?'”

“I’m at an age where people are getting married and friends are falling in love and taking next steps,” Pillsbury continued. “I was stuck in time and things were moving past me.”

The Sally, When the Wine Runs Out hitmaker went on to admit that he found it difficult having a different type of career from his friends.

“All my friends work and have real jobs, so they’re free on the weekends,” he told Dunham. “You have Monday through Friday being by yourself, whether you’re working or not, being in your head.”

Pillsbury, who recently split from actress Dakota Johnson after several months of dating, also recalled feeling overwhelmed as his career continued to skyrocket while he was making the album.

“I think my career reaching a new place while making the album was very overwhelming,” he shared. “You’re feeling lost and stagnant, but you also can’t really do anything about it because you’re on the road or working.”

The singer added, “Obviously any songwriter is going to be overly dramatic, but it does feel that way.”

As for most recent update, Role Model will be making his acting debut in Dunham’s upcoming movie Good Sex alongside Natalie Portman and Mark Ruffalo.
