Qatar LNG shipment reaches Strait of Hormuz for Pakistan

A third liquefied natural gas vessel from Qatar has entered the Strait of Hormuz after receiving special permission from Iran, according to shipping and port sources.

Sources said the LNG carrier is moving past Iran’s Hengam Island area in the strait and is carrying gas loaded from Qatar’s Ras Laffan terminal. According to Port Qasim officials, the shipment is heading towards the Engro LNG terminal in Pakistan. They also confirmed that another LNG vessel, Al-Kharsaah, has already reached Karachi.

Sources added that an earlier LNG shipment had docked at Port Qasim on April 30, showing that energy cargo has been arriving regularly in recent weeks. Officials said that within 15 days, Iran has allowed three LNG vessels bound for Pakistan to pass through the route, reflecting ongoing regional cooperation in energy transportation.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy routes, through which a large share of global oil and gas shipments passes, making such developments important for countries like Pakistan that rely on energy imports.

Earlier, Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Azizi said a draft bill related to the Strait of Hormuz has been prepared. He said the bill will be presented once parliament sessions resume and will become law after approval from the Guardian Council.
