LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has undergone a major surgical procedure at Lahore hospital, officials confirmed.
Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said in a statement shared on social media that Maryam Nawaz underwent major surgery at the Lahore-based hospital.
However, the minister did not specify the nature of the surgical procedure in her statement.
Senior provincial minister Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed the development in a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying the chief minister had successfully undergone a major surgical procedure and was later discharged from the hospital.

According to Aurangzeb, Maryam Nawaz continued to monitor provincial affairs directly from the hospital during Eid ul Azha, including security arrangements, cleanliness operations and other administrative matters.
Following the statement, social media users expressed prayers and well wishes for the chief minister’s speedy recovery. Many users also praised her continued oversight of public affairs during the Eid holidays.
Political and social circles also conveyed their best wishes for Maryam Nawaz’s health and recovery.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister “Maryam Nawaz” started her official visit to Azerbaijan with important meetings and ceremonial visits in the capital city of Baku.
A high-level delegation accompanied the chief minister during the three-day visit. Azerbaijani officials warmly welcomed Maryam Nawaz with delegation at Baku Airport. Deputy Minister for Defence Industry “Mehman Bakhshiyev” received Maryam Nawaz upon her arrival.
In addition, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador “Khazar Farhadov” and other officials also attended the welcome ceremony.
