
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is expected to form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan in alliance with independent candidates who won seats in the regional assembly election.
Party sources said, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is likely to visit Gilgit-Baltistan in the coming days as part of efforts to consolidate support.
They added that the party is engaging independent winners to secure a governing majority in the regional assembly.
PPP Information Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan said no final decision has been made so far, but the party is making efforts to bring independent lawmakers into its fold.
He said consultations were ongoing and the party would try to build alliances with independent candidates.
The PPP emerged as the largest party in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections, securing the highest number of seats, though it fell short of an outright majority.
Meanwhile, Official results for 21 of the 24 seats in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections have been announced, showing a closely contested race between major political parties and independent candidates.
According to the results, the Pakistan People’s Party secured 10 seats, followed by independent candidates with 5 seats, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz with 5 seats, and the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen winning 1 seat.
PPP’s Amjad Advocate won from GB-1 Gilgit-I with 10,594 votes, while PML-N’s Hafeez-ur-Rehman secured victory in GB-2 Gilgit-II with 13,433 votes.
In GB-4 Nagar-I, PPP’s Muhammad Ali Akhtar won with 7,654 votes, and in GB-5 Nagar-II, PPP’s Zulfiqar Murad was declared successful with 2,628 votes.
Independent candidate Nek Nam Karim won GB-6 Hunza with 6,390 votes.
In Skardu, PPP continued its strong performance as Touqeer Mehdi Shah won GB-7 Skardu-I, Kazim Meesam of MWM secured GB-8 Skardu-II with 10,658 votes, Fida Nashad won GB-9 Skardu-III, and Nasir Ali Khan took GB-10 Skardu-IV.
PPP’s Iqbal Hussain won GB-11 Kharmang, while Imran Nadeem secured GB-12 Shigar.
In Astore-II (GB-14), PML-N’s Rana Muhammad Farooq emerged victorious with 7,058 votes.
Independent candidates Mohammad Dilpazeer (GB-15 Diamer-I) and Syed Imam Malik (GB-16 Diamer-II) also won their respective seats.
PPP’s Muhammad Naseem won GB-17 Diamer-III, while PML-N’s Kifayat-ur-Rehman secured GB-18 Diamer-IV.
In Ghizer, PPP’s Syed Jalal Shah won GB-19 Ghizer-I, PML-N’s Abdul Jahan took GB-20 Ghizer-II, and independent candidate Aman Ali Aamir won GB-21 Ghizer-III.
In Ghanche, PML-N’s Ibrahim Sanai won GB-22, while independent candidate Anwar Ali secured GB-23 Ghanche-II.

The remaining seat results are yet to be officially finalized, according to election authorities.
