LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umra on Saturday, where they discussed various political and national issues.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were also present during the meeting.
The meeting covered the country’s overall political situation, upcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and recent exchanges of statements between the PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Speaking during the meeting, Nawaz Sharif stressed the importance of political tolerance, saying that differences in politics should be based on ideas rather than personal disputes.
He said democracy was the best system of governance and that the right to rule belonged only to the people.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was continuing efforts to promote peace in the Middle East and had always addressed the concerns of its allies.
He added that issues could be resolved through dialogue and that operations against Fitna Khawarij were continuing successfully.
According to sources, the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and matters related to recent elections also came under discussion. The ongoing exchange of statements between the PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was also reviewed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while discussing national and regional developments, said Pakistan was continuing efforts for peace in the Middle East.
He added that the concerns of coalition partners had always been addressed and that issues could only be resolved through dialogue.

The prime minister also highlighted ongoing counterterrorism operations, saying action against Fitna Khawarij was continuing successfully.
