Pink responds to backlash for criticising Macklemore’s ‘Free Palestine’ message with Instagram memes

Pink previously condemned Macklemore’s support for Palestine during his opening sets for Ed Sheeran’s concerts

Pink has seemingly responded to the backlash surrounding her decision to call out Macklemore’s “Free Palestine” message by sharing a series of memes and quotes on Instagram.

Pink previously reshared a post from the @Stop_AntiSemitism Instagram account after Macklemore voiced support for Palestine during his opening sets for Ed Sheeran’s concerts in New Jersey.

The post criticised Macklemore’s comments and claimed Jewish fans were subjected to an unwanted political message.

Pink did not add a comment when sharing the post, but her decision to reshare it was viewed as support for the message.

The move subsequently drew criticism from supporters of the Free Palestine movement.

On Monday, September 7, Pink appeared to address the reaction indirectly by reposting 10 memes and quotes to her Instagram Stories. The posts included: “Being liked by everyone is a clown’s job.”

Other messages included, “I’m not for everyone and honestly that has saved me a lot of time,” and “If they want to paint you as the villain, then pose.”

She also shared, “I’m very popular with people who have never met me,” alongside “Don’t let idiots ruin your day. It’s your day. Ruin it yourself.”

The singer has previously faced discussion over political themes in her music and performances, including her song “Dear Mr. President”.
