ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government has decided to keep the prices of petrol, high-speed diesel and kerosene oil unchanged until July 27, according to Petroleum Division reports, the decision means consumers will continue paying the current fuel prices until the next scheduled price review.
Officials from the Petroleum Division said the price of petrol will remain Rs335.18 per liter, while high speed diesel (HSD) will continue to sell at Rs383.46 per liter. The price of kerosene oil will also stay unchanged at Rs301.14 per liter during the same period.
The government said there will be no changes to fuel prices before the next official pricing announcement. The decision follows several fuel price adjustments made earlier this month that increased transportation and business costs across the country.
Fuel prices have changed several times in recent days. On July 18, petrol became Rs5.44 per liter more expensive, while diesel increased by Rs31.05 per liter. Three days later, on July 21, petrol prices dropped by 35 paisas per liter, but diesel increased by Rs5.71 per liter.
The changes continued during the week, on July 22, petrol prices increased by Rs4.93 per liter, while diesel rose by Rs7.15 per liter, on July 23, petrol became Rs6.39 per liter more expensive, and diesel increased by Rs7.83 per liter. Another increase followed on July 24, when petrol prices rose by Rs4.40 per liter and diesel prices increased by Rs3.62 per liter.
The talks came after the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association called off a planned nationwide strike. The association said the government agreed to review the daily fuel pricing system and prepare a report on dealers’ profit margins within 15 days.
Association President Humayun Khan said the strike was canceled after government officials assured dealers that their concerns would be reviewed. As a result, petrol pumps across Pakistan continued normal operations without disruption.
