KARACHI: Karachi’s weather is expected to change as a new monsoon system approaches, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting thunderstorms and rainfall across Sindh from July 31 to August 2, while Karachi is likely to receive moderate rain with strong winds during this period.
According to PMD spokesperson Anjum Nazir Zigham, the depression formed over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression and is currently located over the Indian state of Odisha.
He said the system’s direction is still unclear, making it too early to predict its exact impact. However, if it moves towards the southern direction, heavy rainfall may occur in Sindh, particularly Karachi.
The spokesperson added that a detailed forecast regarding rainfall intensity and possible impacts will be issued soon.
