KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has intensified its crackdown against Bahria Town by freezing a sprawling 67-acre mansion allegedly built by property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain for his personal use.
The estate, known as “Ali Villa,” is located in the Bahria Hills area of Bahria Town Karachi and is registered in the name of his son, Ali Riaz Malik. According to NAB, the luxury residence features high-end amenities, including a helipad, mini zoo, and multiple swimming pools.
In two additional inquiries, NAB has also frozen 1,338 acres of land allegedly occupied by Bahria Town Karachi. The land is said to belong to the Government of Sindh and includes areas earmarked for Bahria Greens and several residential precincts, including Precincts 33, 34, 38, 39, 40, 42 and 61.
Separately, NAB has frozen the entire 3,150-acre landholding of Bahria Town 2, which investigators say was fraudulently acquired by M/s Paradise Real Estate (Pvt.) Limited through a separate order issued by the Director General NAB Karachi.
In all freezing orders, relevant authorities have been directed to prevent Bahria Town Karachi from selling, transferring, or creating any third-party rights over the attached properties.
The latest action is part of NAB’s broader investigation into alleged large-scale illegal acquisition of public land in Karachi’s Malir district.
The bureau has already filed Reference No. 1/2025 before an accountability court in Karachi, accusing Bahria Town and several public officials of unlawfully converting and misappropriating 17,672 acres of government land worth approximately Rs708 billion.
The case alleges that the land was transferred in collusion with officials of the Government of Sindh and later used to develop Bahria Town Karachi along the M-9 Motorway. NAB says legal proceedings are ongoing.
