Eric Stonestreet has shared the one memory from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding that he’s most fond of.

In a recent press talk, the Modern Family star shared that he and his wife, Lindsay Schweitzer, were among the guests invited to the couple’s July 3 wedding in New York City.

Stonestreet admitted that when the invitation first arrived, they wondered if it was fake.

“We thought it was spam, like everybody else,” the 54-year-old actor told USA Today‘s Chiefs Wire on Wednesday, explaining that they had no way to confirm it.

“When we got the invitation, we were very careful. We couldn’t verify with anybody. We just had to trust it was real, because I wasn’t breaking any rules, and Lindsay wasn’t either. But it was incredible,” they added.

In the end, they trusted it was genuine and were happy they did.

Stonestreet then shared that his favourite part of the wedding was seeing Swift and Kelce celebrate away from the spotlight. He praised the venue for giving the couple the privacy they deserved and said it allowed them to enjoy the occasion like any other newlyweds.

“I know they’ve gotten so much crap for doing it at Madison Square Garden, but show me another place where they could have a private moment like anybody else would deserve to have at a wedding, where they don’t have helicopters and hot air balloons and dirigibles floating over them trying to get video.”

“And it just happened to be at Madison Square Garden with security making sure everybody was safe and good and they could just have a night for themselves,” Stonestreet added.

The actor also thanked the couple for including their guests in what he described as an unforgettable evening.

“I really thought of it as what a gift they gave to us too. It’s one thing nobody’s talking about is what a gesture it was to those people that they invited and welcomed us and [provided] such an incredible night.”

Stonestreet, who has known Kelce for several years, also spoke fondly of the Kansas City Chiefs star, saying he watched him grow throughout his career and has always admired him.

“We’ve seen Travis from when he was drafted and we’ve seen him through different phases of his life,” Stonestreet said.

He added that he was happy for both Kelce and Swift when they began dating because he believes Kelce is a genuinely kind person.

“So when they started dating, we were so happy for him. But we were also happy for Taylor because we know what kind of human being Travis is. So we were excited to celebrate their love with them and a few other people in New York City, and it was just a treat to be there.”

As for Stonestreet, he’s married to pediatric nurse Lindsay Schweitzer since September after the couple first met during a charity event in Kansas City in 2016.
