Democrats are leading key US Senate races in Texas and Michigan just days before the 2026 midterm elections, according to a new CNN poll.
The survey also suggests close contests in Maine and Kansas, where neither party has established a clear lead.
As reported by The Guardian, Democratic candidate James Talarico has the support of 49 percent of likely voters in Texas, compared with 43 percent for Republican Ken Paxton.
In Michigan, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed leads Republican Mike Rogers by seven percentage points, with 49 percent support against Rogers’ 42 percent.
The races could prove important as Democrats attempt to gain seats and Republicans fight to retain their position in the Senate.
Meanwhile, the contest in Maine remains uncertain. Republican senator Susan Collins faces Democrat Troy Jackson, who replaced Graham Platner after he withdrew following allegations of sexual misconduct.
Maine had previously been considered one of the Democrats’ strongest opportunities to win a Republican-held Senate seat.
Kansas has also emerged as an unexpectedly competitive state as Democrat Adam Hamilton is challenging Republican incumbent Roger Marshall in a state that traditionally votes Republican.
