Meghan Markle’s former agent gives blunt answer on her career future
Meghan Markle’s former agent, Ari Emanuel, says he is glad he no longer has to think about her career.
Emanuel confirmed in an interview with the Sunday Times, published Saturday, that he parted ways with Markle last year.
Asked where her career is heading, he replied, “Here’s the great thing: I don’t have to think about that anymore.” Emanuel is executive chairman of WME Group, and his clients have included Oprah Winfrey, Mark Wahlberg, Ben Affleck, Dwayne Johnson and Kim Kardashian.
However, a WME spokesperson told Page Six on Tuesday that the agency still represents Markle and Archewell, her company with husband Prince Harry.
Rumours of a split between Markle and Emanuel have been around for a while. Markle signed with WME in April 2023. Sources said at the time that the deal was meant to make her a “power player” in Hollywood by helping her produce projects rather than star in them. One insider said, “she wants to run the show.”
In February 2025, multiple sources told Page Six that WME had dropped her, though the agency denied it. Sources said she had not met with Emanuel since January 2024, but was believed to still meet with her day-to-day agents.
One industry insider claimed she was let go for being “too demanding” and “difficult to work with.” Another said the two clashed after she demanded a meeting in January 2024 and “expected decks and plans.”
“Ari was done with her,” the insider said of Markle, 45, who shares two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, with Prince Harry, 42.
