Laufey signs with Interscope Records and Verve Records after six years as independent artist
Laufey has built a huge audience through three albums and a major global touring run
Laufey has signed with Universal Music Group’s Interscope Records and Verve Records, marking a significant new chapter for the Grammy winning singer and songwriter after six years of working independently, according to Variety.
The Icelandic Chinese artist has built an international audience through her combination of jazz, classical music and contemporary pop. The new arrangement brings her music into the Universal Music Group system through Interscope and Verve, the latter being a label with a long history in jazz.
The move follows a rapid rise that has seen Laufey establish herself as one of the most recognisable young artists connecting traditional jazz influences with modern pop audiences. She has released three studio albums and accumulated billions of global streams during her independent run.
Laufey has also received major recognition outside music. She was named one of TIME’s 2025 Women of the Year and was honoured as an Icelandic Knight in her native Iceland. Her debut children’s book, Mei Mei the Bunny, also became a New York Times bestseller.
Her latest album, A Matter of Time, won the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards. Warner Chappell Music also renewed its global publishing deal with Laufey in April, showing the strength of her songwriting career alongside her recording work.
Her live career has grown at a similar pace. Laufey has performed with major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra and China Philharmonic Orchestra. Her A Matter of Time touring cycle also took her across multiple continents, with recent performances including dates in Brazil and Mexico in September 2026.
Laufey has also used her growing platform to support young musicians through the Laufey Foundation. Her annual A VERY LAUFEY DAY expanded across dozens of cities in 2026, combining music and arts events with fundraising efforts.
With new music already in development, her move to Interscope and Verve places Laufey at an important point in her rapidly expanding career.
