King Charles arrives at Balmoral Castle

Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles has arrived at Balmoral Castle for his summer stay.

The palace said the King was welcomed by a Guard of Honor formed by The Royal Regiment of Scotland. He also met Corporal Cruachan IV, the Shetland pony mascot of the regiment.

This year’s arrival ceremony also included the first two members of the revived Balmoral Highlanders. King Charles re-established the group after it was disbanded in 1936.

Both new Highlanders work for the Balmoral Estate and will also take part in the Braemar Gathering in September.

The palace added that the King has had a busy August in Scotland. He attended the Castle of Mey Games, met members of the Assynt Mountain Rescue team and visited the communities of Halkirk and Castletown.

During his visits, King Charles also opened a distillery house in a restored former mill building.
