Kelly Clarkson’s talk show boss spills secret behind its emmy-winning run
Kelly Clarkson knows how to connect with people, and this was the secret behind The Kelly Clarkson Show‘s success, said the talk show runner, Alex Duda.
Alex gushed over the singer-songwriter for her remarkable talent of touching people’s hearts and according to her this is why after seven seasons, the show secured 24 Daytime Emmy Awards.
As the last episode is all set to release today (August 31), Alex, who is also the executive producer, revealed that the final curtain of the last episode will be called a “Kelly by Request” to honor Kelly.
And Alex believes Kelly has done superb work on the show.
“She was a connector. We learned that very early on,” Alex told People. “The way she connected to people — that’s why we knew we wanted a format where people sat on the couch next to each other, the celebrity next to the human-interest guest, because when you do that, extraordinary moments can happen that you won’t see anywhere else.”
As the final episode has already been recorded back in June, Alex revealed that they reminded the audience again and again that they were watching Kelly on the stage last time.
“We just tried to make it be a celebration, especially that last episode, tried to make that be for the fans and help them help us say goodbye,” Alex shared.
Moreover, the final episode will also feature two special guests: her two children, River Rose, 12 and Remington Alexander, 10.
“It’s been seven years. We haven’t changed a bit, but when you look at River and Remy, you know time has gone by because they’re almost grown up and they did so great. They did so great,” Alex added.
While concluding, Alex said that the secret ingredient of the success of The Kelly Clarkson‘s show was stars “dropping their guards” in front of Kelly and the songstress’ mission to shed light on local heroes through her memorable “Rad Human” and “Good Neighbors” segments.
“I hope we made things a little bright. Especially in the pandemic, we felt that things were so dark that if we can control this one hour and make the sun shine, then we’ve accomplished something,” Alex added.
