Karoline Leavitt officially wrapped up her tenure as White House Press Secretary, concluding a historic run as the youngest person to ever hold the position.
Leavitt stepped down to prioritize spending time with her young family. Following the birth of her second child in May, she noted that balancing the grueling, round-the-clock demands of the podium with raising two small children led to her “bittersweet decision” to leave.
While leaving her daily West Wing briefing duties, Leavitt remains a key figure in President Trump’s orbit.
The White House former press secretary is transitioning to a role as an outside adviser and returning to work with the Trump-aligned MAGA Inc. super PAC, where she will focus heavily on messaging and grassroots efforts for the upcoming midterm elections.
President Trump has not yet officially named a permanent successor to take over the White House podium, though speculation and lighthearted public banter from the president have floated various names including media figures like Scott Jennings and Fox News correspondent Alexis McAdams amid a massive influx of applicants for the high-profile job.
Leavitt, the 36th White House press secretary, became the youngest person to hold the position when she assumed the role at the start of Trump’s second term.
The White House praised her defence of the president and his America First policies, describing her tenure as one marked by command and clarity.
Trump also called Leavitt “one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office”, according to the official announcement.
