Tom Hanks’ brother Jim Hanks recently revealed that he lent his voice to Toy Story in the absence of his famous brother.

For those unaware, in the 1995 American animated adventure comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Picture, Tom lent his voice to Sheriff Woody, the cowboy.

Jim appeared on the recent episode of the Love it Film podcast, where he confessed that he voiced Woody on behalf of his brother in many supportive projects, including video games, merchandise, and shorts.

The 64-year-old American actor and filmmaker shared, “The first thing I ever did was one of the pull-string toys from the first movie where he’s saying ‘You’re my favorite deputy’ and ‘There’s a snake in my boot’ and stuff like that.”

He added, “They had processed the voice so much that they needed a cleaner [version] so I come in and do it.”

Jim went on to admit that playing Woody has been an “immensely” amazing opportunity for him, and he made sure to stay “as true to the character as possible” while doing it for Tom.

It is pertinent to mention that Toy Story had an ensemble cast to voice different characters, such as Wallace Shawn, Annie Potts, Tim Allen, John Ratzenberger, Jim Varney, Andrew Stanton, Estelle Harris, and many others.
