U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance have welcomed a baby boy, marking the first time in 156 years that a child has been born to a sitting U.S. vice president.

The birth is being described as a historic milestone in American political history, as no serving vice president has welcomed a child while in office since the 19th century.

Vance announced the birth of his newborn through a social media post, “We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning.”

“Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”

Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance welcomed their fourth child, a baby boy named “Alec Neel Vance” who joins three older siblings-9 years, Ewan, Vivek, and 4 years old little Mirabel.

The birth has attracted widespread attention because U.S. vice presidents have traditionally entered office after completing their families.

Notably, the last time a sitting vice president welcomed a newborn was in 1870, almost 156 years ago.

The baby was delivered at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, with assistance from the White House medical team with both, child and mother completely healthy.
