Iran commends Pakistan’s peace efforts in high-level meeting

TEHRAN: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni in Tehran, where both sides discussed regional stability and bilateral cooperation, Iranian officials said.

The Iranian interior minister said Iran has always supported peace and continues to work for stability in the region, adding that it deeply values Pakistan’s sincere efforts.

He said Iran fully appreciates Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at promoting peace and security, and respects the steps taken by Islamabad in this regard.

Dr Momeni also praised Pakistan’s peace efforts, saying they were “sincerely appreciated from the heart.”

He further lauded the efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, calling them sincere and constructive in supporting regional stability.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Iran carrying an important message, according to sources.

Sources said Naqvi is expected to hold key meetings with the Iranian leadership during his visit.

They added that the ongoing Iran–US negotiations are likely to come under discussion during the engagements.

The interior minister reached Iran a short while ago, sources further confirmed.

Earlier, A US lawmaker has praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating de-escalation efforts between the United States and Iran, highlighting its diplomatic contribution on the global stage.

Congressman Jack Bergman, co-chair of the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, sent a letter of appreciation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, expressing gratitude for Pakistan’s leadership during recent diplomatic engagements.

The caucus said it extends “sincere thanks and lasting appreciation” to Pakistan’s civil and military leadership for their role in promoting dialogue and regional stability.

Bergman said Pakistan’s efforts to bring the US and Iran to the negotiating table reflect “true statesmanship and strategic foresight,” adding that he is personally grateful for the leadership shown during ongoing peace discussions.

He noted that Pakistan-US relations carry long-term strategic importance and said both the White House and the US Congress have publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s positive diplomatic role.

The congressman further announced plans to visit Pakistan soon to strengthen bilateral strategic ties between the two countries.
