Rebecca Ferguson has confirmed that her role in Dune: Part Three will be far smaller than many fans expected, revealing that she appears in just one scene in the upcoming film.

Speaking to extratv at the San Diego Comic Con, the actress said her only appearance in Dune: Part Three is the scene already featured in the film’s trailer, confirming that Lady Jessica’s involvement in the story is limited.

Ferguson previously revealed that her character was not originally included in the screenplay before director Denis Villeneuve decided to add a single scene.

Reflecting on the experience, she admitted it felt unusual returning to a production she had helped shape while having only a brief role.

The reduced screen time aligns with Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah, the source material for the third film.

Set years after the events of Dune: Part Two, the story focuses on the consequences of Paul Atreides’ rise to power, with Lady Jessica playing only a minor role in that chapter of the saga.

Villeneuve has previously confirmed that Dune: Part Three will be his final film in the franchise.

He has also explained that he views the project as separate from the first two films, which together adapted the original Dune novel, while the third film is based entirely on Dune Messiah.

Despite Ferguson’s limited appearance, the film features a returning cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Jason Momoa is also set to return as Duncan Idaho, despite the character’s apparent death in the first film.

Dune: Part Three is scheduled for release on December 18 and will open in cinemas on the same day as Avengers: Doomsday.
