The “Rahmat Card” program has been launched in Punjab to support widows and orphans.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif introduced the initiative, which provides financial assistance of Rs100,000 to eligible widows and orphaned children. The provincial government has set aside Rs5,000 million from Zakat funds for this program.
According to the eligibility rules, only those who qualify for Zakat under Shariah law can benefit from the scheme. Widows who are government employees, pensioners, or those who meet the Nisab threshold are not eligible.
Eligible people can apply through a dedicated mobile application, while more details can be obtained by calling the helpline 1077. Beneficiaries will be selected through the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry based on district quotas. If an applicant is not listed in PSER, their information will be checked through NADRA.
The financial support under the CM Punjab Rehmat Card will be provided through JazzCash wallet accounts.
