The Higher Education Commission has introduced a new admissions policy for MS and MPhil programs, making GRE or HAT tests compulsory for students applying to Level 7 and Level 8 degrees.
Under the new rules, universities will no longer be allowed to conduct their own entry tests for these programs. The HEC said the decision aims to ensure transparency, quality, and a uniform merit-based system in higher education admissions across the country.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has also announced updated guidelines for students seeking admission to medical colleges. According to the new criteria, students must score at least 50 percent marks in the MDCAT exam or pass an equivalent foreign test to be eligible.
The PMDC further stated that applicants must have completed FSc Pre-Medical or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 60 percent marks. Students planning to study medicine abroad have been advised to follow these requirements strictly and complete online registration for provisional registration and the NRE.
