Glenn Close doesn’t consider herself a “classic beauty.”

The 79-year-old actress, who next stars in new series Up to No Good, made the statement during an exchange with Harper’s Bazaar UK this week.

“I’m lazy. I can’t stand spending time on myself,” the Fatal Attraction star told the publication about her lack of a beauty routine.

She said film beauty means a small nose, big eyes and a lovely mouth, like Rose Byrne.

She said Meryl has a more aquiline nose and was magic on film because of her proportions. “I’ve never played the beauty,” Close said.

“I have a big bulbous nose.” She joked that her nose and chin are getting bigger, so “they’ll meet very soon!”

Close also said she has no beauty routine. “I’m lazy. I can’t stand spending time on myself,” she said. She called getting her nails done “torture” and said she has never known how to do her hair.

She also deemed fashion shows her “personal hell.” She added that she has never had a style. Her daughter, Annie Starke, has it instead.

That is why she loves costumes. “I know who I am in a costume,” she said. She feels she is still “an unfinished character.”

She also credited lighting for her success. “I’d never have got an Oscar nomination for The Wife if I hadn’t been lit in the way I was. Because you can see my eyes. Two eyes, looking into two other eyes.”
