French actress Nadia Fares has passed away at the age of 57.
The Morocco-born star was found unconscious in a swimming pool of a gym in Paris on April 11 and had been in a coma since the incident.
Her daughters, Cylia and Shana Chasman, confirmed her death. In a statement to Agence France-Presse, they said their mother suffered a cardiac arrest and died on Friday, April 17.
They expressed deep sorrow, saying France has lost a great artist, while for them it is the loss of their mother. They also asked for respect and privacy during this difficult time.
Nadia Fares became well known after her role in the film The Crimson Rivers in 2000, which brought her widespread recognition. She had recently returned to Paris after spending time living in the United States.
She was also preparing to direct her first film later this year. In an interview earlier in January, she shared her excitement about working on an action comedy project with TF1 Group, saying she had built a strong team through dedication and hard work.
