Ethiopian Airlines is planning to start direct flights to Lahore, a proposal that was discussed during a meeting between Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Ethiopian Ambassador Dr Oumer Hussein Oba in Islamabad.
The ambassador said the new route is expected to boost business connections, improve travel links, and encourage cultural exchange between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
The meeting also focused on increasing bilateral trade, industrial cooperation, and regional connectivity, especially with African markets. Jam Kamal Khan suggested holding a multi-country business forum in Islamabad with participation from East African countries.
He highlighted Pakistan’s manufacturing sector, including small and medium enterprises producing engineering goods, agricultural machinery, home appliances, and consumer products.
The minister pointed out agriculture, engineering, and tractor manufacturing as key areas for cooperation, noting Pakistan’s experience in these fields.
The Ethiopian side also shared plans to hold a Single Country Exhibition of Ethiopia in Islamabad later this year. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, industry, and connectivity through practical steps.
