ANAHEIM, Calif.: Disney revealed a packed lineup of upcoming movies, animated films and series at its “D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event” on Saturday, August 15, at the Honda Center giving thousands of fans first looks at major projects from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and other studios.
Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro opened the sold out Disney Entertainment Showcase, where stars and filmmakers presented new footage, announcements and updates on projects heading to theaters and streaming services.
Among the biggest announcements was “Lilo & Stitch 2”, which is scheduled to begin production in Hawaii later this year and arrive in theaters May 26, 2028. Disney also showed a new teaser for “The Bluey Movie”, which will hit theaters Aug. 6, 2027.
Fans also received updates on “Ice Age: Boiling Point”, set for Feb. 5, 2027, and the live action “Tangled”, which is scheduled for March 31, 2028. Disney also introduced “Oswald”, a new live action and animated hybrid series about Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, which will premiere on Disney+ on Feb. 17, 2027.
Pixar announced several major projects, including “Incredibles 3”, “Coco 2”, “Ghost Market” and “Gatto”. Incredibles 3 is scheduled for June 16, 2028, while Coco 2 is planned for November 2029. Ghost Market is scheduled for March 2028, and Gatto will arrive in theaters March 5, 2027.
Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, who will be honored as a Disney Legend this Sunday, took to the stage to speak about what being a member of the Disney family has meant to her, dating back to the film that started it all: The Princess Diaries.
Marvel Studios also brought major news to D23. “VisionQuest” will premiere on Disney+ Oct. 14, 2026, while “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled for Dec. 18, 2026. Marvel also revealed its new “X-Men” film, which is scheduled for May 5, 2028, and showed a new trailer for “Marvel’s Wolverine”, coming to PlayStation 5 Sept. 15.
Lucasfilm unveiled the teaser for “Ahsoka Season 2”, which will premiere on Disney+ Jan. 20, 2027. “Star Wars: Starfighter”, starring Ryan Gosling, will open in theaters May 28, 2027.
Disney Animation announced “Zootopia 3” is in early development and presented new footage from “Frozen 3”, which will be released Nov. 24, 2027. The event also featured updates on “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”, “Kingdom Hearts”, “LION” and “Camp Rock 3.”
Disney’s announcements gave fans a broad look at the company’s upcoming entertainment slate, spanning animated classics, superhero stories, science fiction, family adventures and new television projects.
