Critics share early verdict on ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’

With three days to release, The Mandalorian and Grogu have just received the critics’ take.
And several of them are not amused by the Star Wars latest offering.
As the embargo of reviews has been lifted, Variety’s take read, “Jon Favreau directs a big-budget movie with a tidy small-screen consciousness.”
“But that might be what “Star Wars” now is,” it says.
Slashfilm’s review is even more brutal.
In its desperate attempt to satisfy everyone, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” neglects to tell a meaningful tale worth anyone’s time.”
“Star Wars” has never felt duller or more mundane. This isn’t the way, folks,” the review read.
Den of Geek’s review echoes the previous reviews’ criticism.
“Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu might be the first summer tentpole blockbuster that feels like a small-screen rerun.”
However, there are some favourable reviews, too.
In The Bulwark’s review, it read, “I think my kids, for whom this picture is designed, are going to enjoy The Mandalorian and Grogu.”
