‘Coach’ star Craig T Nelson pays tribute to ‘extraordinary woman’ Shelley Fabares
Late Shelley Fabares is being remembered by her decade-long Coach costar Craig T. Nelson after her tragic loss.
After the actress and singer’s demise was confirmed by her husband, tributes from fellow stars have started to pour in, and Craig is one of them, mourning the loss of his “extraordinary” costar.
Craig poured his heart out in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, reading, “Shelley was a great and grand lady… just a rock. I will miss her. She was a foundational part of my life during the run of Coach.”
Gushing over Shelley, Craig continued, “She always had a smile. She was welcoming in the midst of chaos and always someone I could go to for advice and counsel, not only myself but others as well. I’ll remember you with love, Shelley Fabares.”
People was first to report Shelley’s passing, who was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.
Shelley was known for her role in the ABC sitcom Coach, in which she played Christine Armstrong’s role, the wife of Craig’s character, across the nine seasons of the drama. She was also a singer and had a Number 1 song, Johnny Angel, in 1962.
Her family and her M*A*S*H star husband, Mike Farrell, announced Shelley’s passing in a statement that read, “To her family and friends, Shelley was a source of love, strength, laughter, and comfort.”
“She was a devoted wife, cherished stepmother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, family member, and loyal friend whose warmth, generosity, humour, and grace made an enduring difference in the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.”
“But to those closest to her, her greatest legacy was personal: the love she gave so freely, the friendships she treasured, and the family bonds she held dear,” they further wrote.
