Chris Brown lashes out at Pitchfork and Zara Larsson amid poor rating and criticism of new album

The review gave the project a score of 1.3 out of 10 and described it as ‘a piece of sh*t’

Chris Brown has responded after music publication Pitchfork published a strongly critical review of his latest album, Brown, prompting debate across social media and among fans of the singer.

The review, published following the album’s release on May 8, gave the project a score of 1.3 out of 10 and described it as “a piece of sh*t”. The reaction quickly drew criticism from supporters who argued the language used by the publication crossed the line from critique into disrespect.

Social media users also referenced some of the publication’s past ratings, including comparisons involving Ice Spice and Michael Jackson, which further fuelled discussion online.

While reactions to Brown have remained divided, Chris Brown appeared unconcerned by the criticism during an Instagram post shared on Tuesday evening.

“I don’t give a f**k what these n****s is talking about; I know exactly who my fans are and I know exactly who’s hearing this album. If you’re not my fan, I don’t want you to listen to my sh*t. Go listen to motherf**king Zara Larsson or something,” he said.

The mention of Zara Larsson follows comments she made earlier this year in which she said she had blocked Brown on Spotify because she does not listen to “abusers”.

Before his latest response, Brown had already told fans he believed the album would gain greater appreciation over time.
