CDF Asim Munir meets Chinese Premier during China visit

BEIJING: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held an informal meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang during a reception ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

According to details, the meeting took place on the sidelines of a dignified welcoming ceremony, where the Chinese premier warmly greeted Field Marshal Asim Munir and exchanged a handshake with him.

The two leaders also held a brief interaction and exchanged views during the occasion.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s four-point peace initiative, reiterating Islamabad’s commitment to China’s efforts aimed at promoting regional peace, stability, and constructive engagement.

The prime minister expressed these views while addressing a reception held in his honour at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, highlighting the depth and strategic significance of Pakistan–China relations.

He noted that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir recently undertook diplomatic engagements in Tehran, while Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has remained in contact with regional counterparts.

He added that positive momentum has been observed in regional diplomatic efforts and stressed that continued engagement is essential for sustaining peace and stability. He also acknowledged China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at de-escalation and ceasefire efforts.
